I have Kaiser that covers doula services so I’m not sure how to go about pay for that or how it works but want to learn more. I’m a also a first time mom and didn’t even know people went into labor with a “plan” so any information and guidance on what would be best as a black mom for maternal healthcare and for a black infant would be appreciated.

I plan to give birth at Scripps Encinitas. From my understanding, tricare select covers labor doulas, so I am not entirely sure. I am very against medical interventions in labor. (No pitocin, epidural, episiotomy, etc.) I am looking for someone who is going to medically advocate for me to allow myself to be present in labor and not feel like I am having to fight off people trying to intervene when unnecessary.
