Hello Everyone, we are Suyin Jordan, a certified postpartum doula, IBCLC. Certified New Parent Educator with a background in nursing and midwifery in the UK and Petra Nobel, CPD, CNPE and Certified Sleep Consultant, with a background in maternity nursing in the Netherlands. We are the co-owners of Thornhill Doulas. Pregnancy, childbirth and the first few weeks of parenthood is an amazing time in our lives. It should be about the birthing parent, partner (if there is one), baby or babies and what they want for this special time. However, in our fast paced and hectic lifestyles, it can often feel completely overwhelming, especially as more people are living further away from traditional family support. Having doula support will smooth your transition to parenthood- a Magical yet challenging time! We are ready to support all your childbirth and parenting needs, including lactation and sleep.
I don’t even know where to begin in describing how grateful I am for Petra and the incredible support she gave me, my husband, and our son born in April 2024. She was, in every sense of the word, the doula of our dreams. We call her our 'fairy godmother.' We were first-time parents who truly didn’t know what we were doing. Petra walked into our home with a calm, reassuring presence that immediately made us feel safe and supported. Petra never made us feel judged or inadequate — instead, she showed us step by step how to care for our newborn, starting with the first step into our house from the hospital, and my question of, "umm, so where do I put him?". From there, she patiently taught us all the practical skills (feeding, burping, bathing, diapering, soothing, etc.), as we had no idea what we were doing. All the books I read while pregnant did not prepare me for the real thing. Petra prepared us for the real thing. More than the “how-to,” Petra gave us peace of mind. She answered every question with kindness and expertise. She normalized our fears, reassured us when we second-guessed ourselves, and reminded us that we were doing a good job. She also cared for us as parents. She encouraged us to rest, to eat, and to breathe. Her presence lifted so much of the anxiety from those early days and gave us space to bond with our baby rather than drown in uncertainty. Petra was everything we hoped for in a doula: knowledgeable, nurturing, reliable, compassionate, and endlessly patient. She went above and beyond. I can say without exaggeration that she helped us survive and truly enjoy those first weeks as a new family. Suyin also contributed to the post-partum support of our family as my lactation consultant. You really just don't know how difficult breast feeding is until you try it! Suyin helped me with latch, positioning, and confidence. Her visits at our home were comfortable and stress-free, and she helped turned breast-feeding into something I could actually enjoy. I can’t recommend her enough!

Hi, I’m Miranda Hill (she/her), but you can call me “Mimi”—like my grandkids do. I’m a certified birth and postpartum doula. My mission is to provide knowledgeable, compassionate doula support to birthing people, growing families, and new humans. My unique approach is supporting, informing, and celebrating who you are; the choices you make; and the people you call family. My care is warm, affirming and inclusive. Yes, life is changing—but you still get to be you! I’m here to be your champion. Why choose me? I’m trained in the latest best practices for doula care and have an additional 25 years’-experience supporting birthing people and new parents as a writer, postpartum group facilitator, and midwifery advocate. I'm a member in good standing of the Association of Ontario Doulas. My Trainings + Certifications: Birth Doula (Doula School International/Doula Canada) Postpartum Doula (Doula School International/Doula Canada) Lactation and Infant Feeding support (Doula School International/Doula Canada) VBAC-Certified (The VBAC-Link) Size-Friendly Pregnancy support (Plus-Sized Birth) Surrogacy support (Doula School International/Doula Canada) TENS for pain relief (Sharon Muza) IPAC—Infection Prevention and Control (Public Health Ontario) Food Safety Training (Canadian Institute of Food Safety) Emergency First-Aid and CPR AED-C (Canadian Red Cross)
Hiring Mimi was one of the best choices we made for this pregnancy. She was so kind, down-to-earth, and always there when I needed advice or reassurance. During labor, she knew exactly what I needed—whether it was a calming word, a cold compress, or just a hand to hold. She also made sure my Husband felt confident and included, which meant so much to both of us. I honestly can’t imagine going through birth without her. She captured some great pictures of us as a family right after my baby was born, that I will always treasure. I very much appreciate her postpartum check-ins as well.

I am a birth worker since 2012, I have provided a variety of services in a variety of settings around the world. I am located in Toronto, Canada, but I am available to travel for minimum one month commitments. I have worked in Macau & Hong Kong, Manila, Nairobi, Vancouver, and Guadalajara, and have a global perspective on birth physiology and traditions. I provide trauma-informed, and culturally safe care, be it education, lactation support, birth and postpartum doula services, or midwifery care. I’m available as a midwife only where a license isn’t required. My approach is very collaborative—rather than “save” you from unsafe practitioners, I prefer to work with you comprehensively in the prenatal period to be sure you have the environment you need for a peaceful and satisfying (physiologic, if possible) birth. My years and depth of experience and knowledge sets me apart from most locally-focused doulas, so I tend to work well with expats and globe-trotters like myself. My happy place is home in Ontario in the near North, at the cottage that has been a part of my family’s experience for 100+ years. I love all animals but especially dogs, and I ADORE drinking coffee and discussing big ideas.
If you want the best, hire Christy. Where to begin? We LOVED working with Christy. If you’re reading these reviews wondering if you should have her as your doula, you definitely should. Our experience with Christy was nothing short of extraordinary. After the birth, I described Christy to my husband as our angel - as it felt that she magically appeared and blended in, giving just the right level of support and guidance, without being overbearing or intrusive. Her presence felt very natural and she completely put myself and my husband at ease. Christy played a pivotal role in helping me establish breastfeeding, which really helped set us up for success with feeding, and having her there to help with this immediately after the birth was invaluable. After our daughter was born, Christy continued to check in with us, and we felt extremely well looked after. She is clearly an expert both in caring for mothers in the postpartum period, but also in caring for newborns, and her years of experience meant we felt in very capable hands. Her dedication to postpartum care is unmatched, and her deep understanding of the emotional and physical needs of both the birthing person and their partner is truly remarkable. Christy’s passion for what she does shines through in every interaction, and her knowledge in perinatal care is both comforting and empowering. I give Christy my highest recommendation – any family would be very lucky to have her as part of their parenting journey!

Hi there, my name is Marj — a birth and postpartum doula, a yoga/fitness instructor, an essential oil educator, and a mom of two! I am deeply committed to wellness as a holistic lifestyle. You're welcome to book a time in my calendar (https://calendly.com/marjwong/30-45min), I'd love to connect OR send a DM on IG @marj.wong As a DONA certified doula, I believe it is within each birthing person’s innate wisdom and ability to give birth. As well, birth should be an empowering experience. It is in this role where I feel my intuition, guidance, and personal experiences to be incredibly supportive and valuable. The maternal period can be challenging, but with the right support, I know it can also be an incredibly joyous and transformative time. I am a diaper-free, breastfeeding, and HypnoBirthing advocate. I am passionate about providing comprehensive support to families during the postpartum period. Whether it's boosting confidence in breastfeeding, ensuring you enjoy a two-handed lunch (because let's face it, handling a sandwich with one hand can be tricky!), or facilitating much-needed nap time after sleepless nights, postpartum doula support plays a crucial role in the holistic growth of the entire family.
Being a new parent is hard, but no one tells you that despite the new bundle of joy, life has to go on. Kana was instrumental in making sure that my wife and I were able to ease our way into being new parents. Kana's practical assistance around the home and with newborn children is highly recommended. Her skill as a post-partum doula is a result of her pro-active attitude and consistent implementation of empathy, understanding and kindness into her practice. I cannot recommend her enough, and if you are a new parent, I strongly encourage you to engage her services. Thanks again Kana!

Hello! Thank you for being here! My name is Kristin, I’ve been on a mission to encourage women to take back birth and own their unique stories through yoga, breath, reiki, Ayurveda healing and traditional remedies. *Please note I only companion women in births at home outside the system*
Dearest Kristin, I am writing you to thank you for the gift you have given my family, myself specifically. It was a no brainer investing in a doula for this second pregnancy, and everyone was right - we had no regrets picking you! A clear comfortable contract didn’t prepare me for the support you provided. Though we hired you for post-partum care, you were a support during my very hard pregnancy. You provided me validation, connection, spiritual healing, not to mention the massages my body so desperately needed! Deciding whether to be induced was a huge mountain for us. I was high risk and my body had enough. You helped me understand my decision with love and compassion. You were so flexible with scheduling to respond to my extended hospital stay. You supported me through the phone and I felt safe leaving the hospital to come home to your care. A day with you nourished our family physically and spiritually. We were so shattered from the trauma of the birth and extended stay in the hospital. You supported our sleep, eating, and encouraged ways for us to connect while we were transitioning to a bigger family. Cooking for us, cleaning for us, yoga with my toddler while my husband and I could regroup. Having you for a few overnights helped so much with my healing and recovery. I am so grateful for investing in my recovery and choosing you. Anna

We’ve worked with several night nurses and postpartum doulas over the years, but none have come close to the level of care, presence, and professionalism that Tracy brings. From our very first night together, I could feel the difference, she has this intuitive way of knowing exactly what both baby and parents need. She’s warm, confident, deeply knowledgeable, and just so naturally gifted in her work. I was able to sleep deeply knowing our baby was in the very best hands, and I woke up feeling more rested and emotionally lighter every morning she was with us. Tracy is truly worth her weight in gold. She brought so much peace into our home during a season that could have easily felt overwhelming. Beyond the practical support, she helped me trust my instincts again and reminded me that I was doing a great job, something every parent needs to hear. I’ve never felt so supported, seen, and cared for by someone in this role. If you’re considering hiring Tracy, don’t hesitate. I would bring her back in a heartbeat, and I recommend her to every new parent I meet.

Hello, my name is Laaziza Ouabi. I am a trained midwife from Morocco with over five years of experience supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery. I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, which helps me understand and support the emotional and mental health needs of new mothers and families. Since moving to Ottawa, I have worked as a Personal Support Worker, gaining hands-on experience in providing personal care, emotional support, and daily assistance. Alongside my clinical work, I create educational content on social media where I share pregnancy and postpartum tips with a growing community of mothers, which has strengthened my ability to connect with families and offer guidance in a supportive, accessible way. I am truly passionate about helping families during the delicate postpartum period—whether it’s supporting breastfeeding, establishing healthy sleep routines, or simply providing reassurance and a calm presence during night care. My goal as a doula is to make the transition to parenthood smoother, safer, and more positive for both parents and babies.
We had a great experience with Laaziza, she was very helpful for me and my family we are really happy that we hired her.

My name is Aly, and I’m the proud owner of Nurturing and Nesting, a birth and postpartum doula practice dedicated to supporting and empowering mothers through every stage of their journey. I created Nurturing and Nesting to provide thorough, personalized care that helps families thrive before, during, and after birth. My mission is to educate and empower parents with the knowledge and tools they need to care for themselves and their newborns, all while honouring the sacred experience of birth. I’ve always had a deep love for nurturing, whether it’s caring for babies, toddlers, or children, or fostering meaningful relationships with friends, family, and even pets. I truly believe that with the right mindset, atmosphere, and support, birth can be a transcendent experience, one that leaves a lasting, positive impact on both parents and their little one. It’s about creating a space where love, confidence, and calm can grow.
Alycia came into my home postpartum to help me both with childcare and some small housekeeping. Her experience with children speaks for itself. She’s not only kind, patient, and compassionate, she’s also naturally comfortable caring for children. Having a support in your home postpartum that is strictly there to support you is an invaluable experience. Having not only help with my baby and some help cleaning up, but also just a nonjudgmental, knowledgeable source to speak all things postpartum to, really lightened the postpartum mental load. I would welcome Alycia into my home to help with my baby and I anytime.

I’m Liz, a mom, Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant, and Early Childhood Educator with over 20 years of experience supporting children and families. I believe that every family and child is unique, and that sleep solutions should never be one-size-fits-all. My work is rooted in empathy, connection, and realistic strategies that fit into real life—because raising kids is hard enough without added pressure or guilt. My philosophy is to meet families where they’re at, offering support that’s both practical and kind. I take a holistic approach, considering everything from a child’s temperament and routines to family dynamics and environment. Whether we’re working on sleep, behavior, or parenting strategies, I’m here to listen, encourage, and guide you with compassion and clarity every step of the way
After working with Liz, our child is now able to go to sleep independently without rocking or using a pacifier, he can typically link sleep cycles during naps (or able to self sooth and eventually go back to sleep upon waking), and sleeps for long stretches at night (usually with only one wake during the night to feed, but sometimes through the night on rare occasions). He has predictable sleeping patterns, solid naps, smoother nights, he is easy to put down to sleep, he can now tolerate longer wake windows, and is overall, a happier and more rested baby. We are so thankful for Liz’s help. We truly feel like we gave our son a gift by working with her and helping him to develop his sleep skills.

Hi there! My name is Juliet Beckwith (she/her) and I am a certified full spectrum doula with 3 years of experience supporting families in the GTA through birth and postpartum. Let's schedule a consult to learn more about how I can best support your growing family!
Juliet was an incredible addition to our first pregnancy and birth experience. Juliet is a wonderful listener - attentive and in tune to our approach and areas of pregnancy, birth and post-partum that were not as familiar with (and had more questions or concerns). Juliet is incredibly well informed and knowledgeable and her advice/care was always informed by research and expertise, and without judgment. Juliet’s goals were to ensure we were well supported, had an advocate in the room during a hospital birth and to ensure that our experiences were as consistent with our own expectations as possible - not her own expectations, views etc. As someone who has been a people pleaser my whole life, I had assumed so much about the doula relationship and whether there were expectations to labour a certain way but Juliet made very clear that this was my journey (and my partner’s) and that she was there to support us in achieving that. As Juliet says, “You’re the boss!”. Juliet shares a number of resources and tips throughout the relationship which we found to be very helpful (and clearing a lot of the social media pregnancy advice noise). While my labour experience was not what we expected or hoped for, I still walked away from it feeling very positive and cared for, and I especially felt like I was able to make decisions along the way with Juliet’s support of my agency. Juliet was by my side (literally) every step of the way and I’m so grateful for her positive and calming energy through it all. We cannot recommend Juliet enough.

I believe every woman deserves to be cherished, heard, supported, and cared for after giving birth. I received a lot of support from my own mother after birthing each of my 3 children. This has inspired me to use my own experience, and knowledge from my training, to offer a high level of loving support and care to others on their postpartum journey. I’m passionate about creating a non judgmental space for parents and babies to learn and grow together.
