What's the Cost of Hiring a Midwife in Cleveland Heights, OH?

The cost of a midwife in Cleveland Heights, OH, can vary depending on the services provided, the midwife's experience, and whether the care is for a home birth, birthing center, or hospital support. Typically, midwife services for prenatal care and birth range from $3,000 to $6,000. Some insurance plans may cover part or all of the cost, so it is important to check with your provider. Additional costs could include lab tests, ultrasounds, and other medical services if needed.

The cost of a midwife in Cleveland Heights, OH can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Whether insurance covers the cost of a midwife in Cleveland Heights, OH, depends on your specific insurance plan, the midwife's credentials, and where the services are provided. Many insurance plans do cover midwifery services, especially if the midwife is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) working within a hospital or birthing center. However, coverage for home births or care provided by certified professional midwives (CPMs) or lay midwives may be less common. It's important to contact your insurance provider to confirm details about your coverage, including in-network providers, co-pays, and preauthorization requirements.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Cleveland Heights, OH, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

I love helping women understand and awaken to their own power in birth. Babies profoundly benefit from their mothers feeling a sense of empowerment and freedom throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum. During this meaningful and normal physiological process, there is a hormonal orchestra that helps both mom and baby to dance and shift their way into each other's arms. My goal is to protect this space, offering a balance of privacy vs suggestions and guidance. Part of my expertise lies in recognizing and distinguishing normal from abnormal during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. It is an honor and privilege to walk beside families in their childbearing seasons and adjust care to fit individual needs.

Review for Shelly As I approached the end of my pregnancy, I started to reconsider the free birth I had been planning and began to explore my options. I came across Shelly through Facebook, and we talked at length about what I had envisioned for this birth. Shelly asked very concise questions in order to acquaint herself with my expectations and to deliver a reasonable response to those expectations. She was thorough and honest. Ultimately we both decided that she would attend my birth and provide me with the hands off approach that I desired in my birth. As my due date came and passed, Shelly was speaking with me daily. She provided me with further reassurance that things were going smoothly. She not only answered my questions, but conferred with other midwives in the community so that she could be certain she was giving me all of the information she had available. Shelly and Staci arrived right on time for my birth, responding immediately to my husbands call. They entered my home peacefully and with the utmost reverence for the birthing space I had created. Their presence was non intrusive, and they waited patiently until my husband and I needed them in the room. Shelly allowed me to birth the way I intuitively desired, and asked to step in when she realized my baby girl wasn’t descending any further. She used her judgment in adjusting my position and assisting me with catching my baby. She provided all the necessary care after delivery, paid great attention to details in checking over my placenta and baby, and allowed my husband and I to get comfortable. Shelly followed up promptly and further provided comfort and care to myself and my newborn. She kindly went over the birth with me and we shared some of our passions and thoughts regarding the experience. Shelly was fantastic, adaptable, and humble. She is a great person, and a great midwife. I highly recommend her to anyone wanting to get in touch with a midwife, and I truly hope she is able to leave her permanent mark in the birthing community.

Hello! My name is Staci and I am a homebirth midwife. We, my husband and 4 children, have lived in NEOHIO for about 7 years. As a homebirth midwife we are eager to to learn about the family and what moves them to birth at home. We walk with the family throughout pregnancy and give as much information as we can get our hands on to share with them so they can make informed decisions about their birth care. We do all of our visits and care in home. We spend an hour or more if needed at each visit. We cherish this time of intimacy. Health, through food, exercise, and herbs, is our utmost focus. We are continually trying to learn and grow and share with our clients all we can. Some clients prefer to have co-care with an OB OR nurse midwife while others want nothing to do with any hospital care (unless a case of transport). We love to customize our care to our individual families.

I have worked closely with Staci Dasher since January, 2021. First, while apprenticing under her, I learned to appreciate her quiet and calm understanding and teaching of the birth process; watching her engage with clients and discuss the intricacies of how birth unfolds is beautiful to see. Now, as her birth partner I deeply appreciate her commitment to serve families with hands-on, individualized midwifery care and to communicate in ways that ensure that families know they're heard and they are deeply cared for.

Jasmine is a wonderful Midwife. I’ve worked with her on mini homebirths. She really takes the mother’s medical care to heart. She listens to the mother’s concerns questions and requests and meets them how she can. I recommend Jasmine Wagster as a homebirth Midwife for a safe and healthy delivery.

I certified as a Full Spectrum Birth Doula in 2021. I am a veteran birther, having had 8 babies. I have written two pregnancy books and working on third. AFTER raising 8 babies I found myself wanting to share my experiences and knowledge with other Mama's. I can tell you which of my pregncies were hydrated or dehydrated. I am starting a movement to empower all mamas from every walk of life. I want you to be a part of it. It doesn't matter to me if I am your hired doula or just a mentor. I want to make sure every women pregnant experiences the best possible outcome. To do that you must come to a complete understanding in regards to the first molecule of life Water!! Water is the key ingredient that empowers every pregnancy! I offer workshops and personal counseling based on my book available on Amazon "I am Water Understand Hydration during Pregnancy " Its her (your)body, her (your) pregnancy her (your) health. I believe every woman needs an advocate to make sure her birth plan manifests! Helping Mama's achieve their personal birth story goals is my life mission. Women today are dealing with different maternal factors than previous generations. Every pregnant mom wants a diet that is healthy. But in today's world that may not be as easily attainable as you would believe. We rely heavily on processed foods that are highly concentrated with sodium. Nearly every drink on the market comes in a plastic bottle. Juice, Water, Milk. We all have learned that microplastics is not healthy. Can we please have drinking products in aluminum cans with bpa free liners undetectable to taste or glass bottles? What are the consequences on a mothers body with added sodium and lots of plastics? When a mother consumes these products while pregnant does this put your health and your babies health on the best track? Is there a simple solution that all mothers can use? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE teaching expecting mothers the importance of hydration during Pregnancy in todays packaged and processed food world. We are all told by our medical team to drink more water and stay hydrated. BUT what does that really mean? As a birth doula I have found moms have questions that they feel are embarrassing to discus about hydration for fear of being thought ignorant. I explain to my moms that honestly that is the most important question you could ask. I break down what water does for you and your baby. We go over possible complications from dehydration. Lastly we discuss preventive hydration care. DID YOUKNOW YOUR BABYS BODY COMPOSITION AT BIRTH IS 70-75% WATER? It is simple, it's easy and makes a difference in regards to how a mom feels physically as well as emotionally about her body and baby. The health impovements that occur with a well hydrated mother are vastly important. Learn what they are and how to hydrate you and your baby. You can purchase on Amazon. Simone Martin

I Hey, I’m Simone. I am a doula that services the metro Cleveland area. I’ve always felt when you start with the woman or the mother, you are saving the community. With that being said, one of my goals is to make sure I can help and educate women as much as possible, so not only are they getting the necessary information for them to have a successful birth but to set them up for success for years to come as a mother. When going thru the birthing experience it’s important to have an advocate who is there solely on your behalf and my job just that! After I had my daughter women’s health became a big priority for me, I made an instant decision that my goal is to help women have the opportunities during labor that I didn’t get, so let me give you that opportunity starting now. I am born and raised Cleveland native, and a mother of 1. I have a sassy 3-year-old whose going on 33, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. When I had my daughter, I had an advocate but unfortunately, I still had to have a cesarean section, which devasted me, that’s story for another day lol, but it allowed me to see the vision I wanted to partake in this health field world. As a child I always stated I wanted to be an Obstetrician, so being in Women’s Health and becoming a doula has been a great opportunity and let’s be honest full circle for me. Being able to have that 1-on-1 support and advocate for you during your birthing journey is a wonderful experience. I am a DONA trained Certified doula, a nursing student with plans on being in labor & delivery, as well as plan on furthering my education by becoming a Certified Midwife. Not only is my goal to service women during this time to help their needs and wants of their birthing journey come into fruition, but to change the narrative and help the mortality rate decrease for women of color. I have a passion for this and my compassion and empathy for women make me the perfect doula just for you! I look forward to meeting you and your baby!
