I will be giving birth at home with a midwife, her birth assistant & my husband. This is our first child. My husband is going to be taking a month off work but his work schedule once he goes back is extreme, he works between 70-80 hrs a week between two full time jobs. Our budget is between 25-35$ an hour. I'm hoping to have 2 months of meals prepared for postpartum but am nervous about keeping up with household chores & taking care of the home by myself with a newborn once he goes back to work. Hello I am going to give birth in Troy Beaumont Hospital. We are expecting a first baby and that’s why I think it would be great to find a doula that could guide me thru the process.

I am giving birth at Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital. I have TriCare Select insurance and supposedly they are doing a trial run where they cover the cost of a Doula in 2026. My husband has to verify this. My parents are willing to pay for a doula if insurance does not cover it. We do not have an estimated budget. I have not made much of a birth plan but do plan to get an epidural if needed. I would like to avoid a c-section, especially since I hear they often do them unnecessarily. I am 33 and aside from hyperthyroidism I do not have any major medical concerns. My husband and mom will also be present at the birth. I am also looking into maybe a postpartum doula to come a few times, but I am not certain on this. Side note: If I had a postpartum doula come to my house I live in Sterling Hts.
