I am looking for a female consultant that has experience and more up-too date info regarding elastic nipples. Due to the nature of the issue, I would prefer they feel comfortable and allow time for me to pump in front of them to best understand and see the issue. I am 27, exclusively pumping for a 5 weeks now. I have Florida Blue Cross Blue Shield and would prefer my insurance be accepted, but am also willing to pay up to $100 for one visit, or $50 for each appointment up to $150. I used only wearable pumps the first four weeks and have no introduced a Spectra wall pump but due to time, sizing supply, and needing custom suction for each boob (could be due to discomfort with improper flange size), I only use the wall pump for one boob and the wearable for the other. The issue is I am having difficulty in finding correct flange size or have elastic nipples. Flange sizes smaller in size (24 down, and even sometimes 26 and 27 mm) cause a pinching feeling. But even when I size up, while the pinching feeling goes away the nipple is still rubbing against the tunnel and sometimes reaches the end of the tunnel too. Sometimes it’s uncomfortable and sometimes it feels fine but creates a raw pain after pumping. I have tried flange inserts, lubrication vs no lubrication. I often end up doing hands-on pumping and/or hand expressing after a session. While I was initially able to do higher suctions without pain (once I got used to pumping) but a month in and I can barely even tolerate the lowest setting, sometimes having to stop after 5 mins feeling engorged but with too much nipple pain to pump any longer. Part of the difficulty in identifying the issue is due to my nipple and areola being the same color making it harder for me to identify if the areola is being sucked in or if my nipple is stretching too much. Another issue is that the wearable pump tunnel is opaque white instead of a transparent plastic so I cannot see the nipple while pumping to better identify issues or proper ways to correct them.
I plan to give birth at Winnie Palmer Hospital in Orlando, FL I am seeking a doula that would be covered under Tricare insurance I plan to have labor and delivery that is safest for baby. I will be using epidural. Certified doula that can advocate for my needs and help through the labor especially if it’s been a long labor. I was 32 hours in labor with my first and did not feel supported by the nurses. I am 33 and seeking a doula that can support me through every step of labor and delivery including postpartum Mainly hospital support and the night after to help with self care and breastfeeding as a lactation consultant never met me the first time.
