When I got connected with Marissa, I just knew she was the right doula for me. I know there’s no such thing as perfect, but my spirit truly aligned with hers. I trusted God and felt at peace not choosing a backup doula, even though I had interviewed three. And I have no regrets. I was induced at 37 weeks, so I wasn’t able to fully follow my birthing plan. However, we had discussed it in depth, and she knew exactly what I wanted. Marissa was firm, supportive, and confident which I deeply appreciated. She wasn’t afraid to speak up for me. She made sure to ask me if decisions being made were truly what I wanted and ensured I understood everything happening. She also made sure she had all the information just like I did. I felt completely comfortable and safe with her. I didn’t feel like I had to track or manage everything because I knew she was doing that. She made sure I had water, juice, crackers everything I needed. I’m not used to being taken care of. I’m usually the strong friend, the one who handles everything on my own. So when Marissa was putting chapstick on my lips, socks on my feet, rubbing my back, and helping me stay comfortable, it honestly shocked me in the best way. It meant more than I can explain. Yes, she’s a doula but to me, it never felt like just a job to her. It felt genuine, loving, and intentional. I will always adore and appreciate her for how she showed up for me during one of the most important moments of my life.

The process of bringing a child into the world is sacred. It is deeply spiritual. Yet, despite its divine nature, our system doesn't always treat it that way. Too often, the connection of mind, body, and spirit are overlooked - unless you have the wisdom to step back into your roots and honor what is natural, divine, and spiritual. Despite our preparation, the ebb and flow of life carried us into deeper waters that we expected. Our plan to welcome our child at a birthing center was derailed when preeclampsia forced us into a hospital birth. On top of that, our original doula had to leave for another emergency. Suddenly our birthing process became a battle of advocacy. But through it all, my beautiful queen and I remained grounded - and most importantly, grounded in our faith in God. In that moment of vulnerability, He gave us exactly what we needed. The embodiment of our prayers - the blessing of Marissa. From Africa to the Maya, birth keepers were more than helpers, they were sacred guides. They carry wisdom and spirit into the birthing space. Marissa carried that same essence. Through affirmations, essential oils, and birthing techniques, she reminded us that this was not medical, but divine. In her hands, birth wasn't reduced to medical charts + interventions. It was held as a transformational ceremony, underpinned by love, honor, and spiritual remembrance. Marissa embodied the divine feminine - grounded, compassionate, intuitive, and powerful. With her, we didn't just give birth - we invoked the sacred, called in our roots, and co-created with the Spirit to receive our son as a deep blessing. Her energy and her spirit - it's what our communities need to heal. Marissa - thank you for being our doula, our confidant, our friend, and most of all - our family!

Marrisa was a breath of fresh air from the initial call, all the way through my birthing experience. She brought everything that I was looking for, for my labor and delivery, which was calmness, joy, comfort and support. Her energy alone made it all worth it. She is an absolutely lovely person, inside and out and I am forever grateful for her gentle and loving care. She really loves and believes in what she does and it definitely shows. She made even the not so ideal situations feel much lighter and better woth her warm and calm presence and listened to everything I needed from her. She was amazing!

I can't recommend Marissa and her services enough. Her calm and supportive presence during the birth of my daughter made all the difference in a smooth, beautiful, and sacred experience. I had originally planned on not hiring a doula, but as my due date grew closer, I decided that I wanted another person in the hospital with me. This was both my husband and I's first child, and we were both nervous. I connected with Marissa through Ancient Song when I was 38 weeks pregnant. I'm glad I didn't wait any longer as I went into labor at 39 weeks. What was supposed to be our consultation call, ended up being in active labor. Even though up until this, we had only emailed, I felt instantly connected to and supported by Marissa. She was in New Jersey at the time, and stayed in contact with me during contractions, and made it to the hospital shortly after I did and continued her calm and loving support during and after birth. Marissa is a goddess, and three months postpartum it feels like I've known her forever. I enjoy every conversation and visit. I'm so glad that our paths crossed and hope that she's part of my future births and family.

After I had my baby, Marissa stayed with me in Honduras for a few weeks and served as my post partum doula. She was wonderful with me and Baby K at a time I really needed the help. I was working remotely while also caring for my little one. She was attentive to me and the baby. She was patient, reminded me to take care and not be so hard on myself. She cooked delicious protein-rich plant-based curry chickpeas for me. She would play with baby K, to provide me with a break, so I could take a shower and nap. She shared different herbal teas, and tinctures to support with mood and minor colds. Marissa is an absolute joy to be around and I am eternally grateful to have experienced her care at such a tender moment. If you are looking for a doula, I strongly recommend working with Marissa. She leads the work with an open heart, deeply knowledgeable, well studied and personable. You and your family would be lucky to work with her.
