About me

Hey there, I’m Carly, the heart and hands behind Sol Shine Doula Services. My path to birth work started with my own first birth experience—long, unsupported, and ending in a home birth transfer. I didn’t even know doulas existed then, but I know now how transformative the right support can be. Named after my first child’s middle name, Sol Shine was born from a deep desire to provide families with the warmth, knowledge, and care I once wished for. Now, I dedicate my work to ensuring no birthing person feels alone in their journey.

Service introduction

I offer support throughout your entire pregnancy. We will have multiple appointments preparing for birth and navigating the pregnancy. You will have text/phone call and in person support. I will be present throughout your labor for labor and birth support. And then will stay with you for up to 2 hours immediate postpartum. Following that I will continue with at home postpartum visits starting within the first week after birth. For my low risks clients if interested I can add in herbal support throughout pregnancy, labor and birth as well as postpartum. I have done hundreds of births and have supported a wide variety of births as well. We found Carly very last minute, and I was honestly on the fence about whether or not I wanted to hire a doula. But after meeting with her, we instantly felt comfortable and knew she was the right fit. She’s kind, knowledgeable, and incredibly thoughtful in her approach. Carly took the time to ask important questions and was sensitive to both past trauma and my neurodivergence, which made me feel seen and supported right from the start. Having her available throughout the tail end of my pregnancy to answer questions was invaluable. I wish we would have found her sooner so I could have benefited from her support and guidance for more of my pregnancy. When it came time for the birth of our first child, I can’t imagine having done it without her. She helped create the calm, peaceful environment I had hoped for and supported both my husband and me as we navigated the hospital experience. During labor, she was there for my husband as much as she was for me—gently guiding him on how best to support me and offering him reassurance, too. Carly made the entire experience feel grounded, warm, and empowering. We’re so grateful we had her by our side.

10/10 for their services. My doula Carly was absolutely amazing before, during and after my first child birth. She gave me all the guidance and support to be prepared for labor, delivery and postpartum care. She empowered me with confidence and information. I'm a non-English native speaker, so Carly's assistance during labor was especially important because she knew all of my preferences in advance and could also advocate for me in a hospital birth. I highly recommend her to all moms-to-be.
