Looking to give birth at Prentice Women's Hospital in the city. I'd like to go a mostly natural birthing route, but would like the hospital environment for the "just in case" piece of birth. I am a first time mom and my husband and I want someone who we can get to know well, and who will spend time with us answering all of our questions. We have vaccine questions, we want to do delayed cord clamping, we would like a vaginal birth (unless dangerous for me or baby), we would like skin to skin immediately, we would like to try to not be induced if that's possible. Looking for post partum doula / night nurse capabilities for a provider that accepts BCBS insurance (I had medical necessity but have struggled to find provider). 38 years old and delivered previous two children without an epidural and with the support of a doula.

I'm giving birth at Central Dupage Hospital. I learned today that my insurance plan covers doulas that are in-network, so ideally they would be in-network with BCBSIL. I’d really like to try for an unmedicated birth if possible, so having help with breathing, positioning, and counter pressure during contractions would mean a lot. My priorities are being able to move freely, delivering in the position I choose, delayed cord clamping, and keeping interventions minimal if everything is safe. I’d also love a calm, dark, peaceful environment. My pregnancy has IUGR, so there’s a chance I may need to deliver earlier than expected. I’m hoping for someone who can support me emotionally, help advocate for me if needed, and also guide my partner on how he can best support me during labor.
