Hello, my name is Amanda Jurrens, and I am deeply honored to walk alongside you on one of the most transformative days of your life, the day you welcome your child into the world. My journey into birth work began with nearly a decade of experience in the assisted reproductive technology industry, both professionally and personally as a three-time gestational carrier. Those experiences lit a fire in me that has only grown stronger with time. Over the years I have had the privilege of supporting many births, and each one has deepened my reverence for the incredible things the human body is capable of. I am, at heart, a total birth nerd, especially when it comes to the biomechanics of labor. I am endlessly fascinated by pelvic dynamics: how the pelvis moves, how a baby navigates through it, and how small positional shifts can open space and work with physiology rather than against it. This passion led me to complete training in the Body Ready Method, an evidence-based approach focused on preparing the body for physiologic birth. Understanding the interplay between posture, movement, and fetal positioning is not just an intellectual interest for me. It is something I bring directly to your labor support. I believe deeply in physiologic birth, in trusting the process, working with the body's wisdom, and creating the conditions for birth to unfold as naturally as possible. That said, I meet every family exactly where they are. My role is never to push an agenda but to make sure you feel informed, empowered, and genuinely supported in whatever birth looks like for you. Education, advocacy, and ensuring that every person feels truly seen, heard, and held are the cornerstones of my practice. I am committed to showing up for you with a calm, nurturing presence and continuous physical and emotional support from early labor through those first tender moments after birth. Outside of birth work, I live in Shakopee with my husband, our two wonderful middle-school-age daughters, and our dog Loki. In my free time I love cooking, traveling, reading, and pouring love into our 118-year-old home. I would be truly honored to be part of your birth journey, to geek out over the amazing mechanics of it all, and to help make this milestone everything you have dreamed it could be.

At the heart of my work is the belief that every birth deserves compassionate, personalized support. Whether you're an expectant parent preparing to welcome your baby or part of a surrogacy journey as a surrogate or intended parent, my role as your doula is to provide steady, nonjudgmental care from pregnancy through postpartum. I meet each family exactly where they are, offering emotional support, evidence-based information, and a calm, grounded presence throughout the experience. For traditional birth clients, I offer a full birth doula package that includes prenatal visits, continuous labor support, and postpartum care to help you feel confident, informed, and nurtured every step of the way. For surrogacy clients, I offer a specialized doula package that supports both the surrogate and the intended parents, recognizing the unique dynamics of surrogacy births. This includes individual consultations, collaborative birth planning, advocacy in the birth space, and postpartum follow-up for all parties involved. My goal is to help everyone feel respected, connected, and supported during this profound life transition.
Amanda was wonderful to work with! In addition to supporting us during labor, we had an initial consultation with her, two meetings before the birth and one meeting postpartum. She is knowledgeable about labor and the postpartum experience. We are first time parents, and she was able to answer our questions as well as offer extra resources and helpful tips. She is very supportive of mothers’ birthing preferences. We opted for a natural labor experience at a birth center, and she was very familiar with that environment. It was also important to us to have a doula who shares our Christian faith and could believe with us for an uncomplicated, beautiful birth (which we had)! I didn’t get a worship playlist put together ahead of time, but Amanda had one ready to go. She offered to braid my hair during labor which ended up being wonderful for labor and the first 48 hours postpartum! She has a calm, nurturing presence. Some other things she did to support us during labor were apply cold washcloths, provide pressure through hip squeezes, and give verbal encouragement. She also picked up our lunch for us post-delivery and thoughtfully brought us home-made treats at our postpartum visit. We are so glad that we went with Amanda as our doula and highly recommend her! Thanks, Amanda!

Amanda was AMAZING through our entire time working with her! We'd highly recommend her to anyone. She was so quick to reply to any message we sent and very imformative. She was definitely a HUGE part of making my labor and delivery easier from helping give counter pressure through every contraction, swapping out cold towels on me in between contractions, giving my husband pointers of how to help me -- it's like she could read my mind of what I needed without me needing to vocalize it! She was also so gracious to offer to run and grab our dinner after delivery so that we could soak up every bit of our golden hour with our baby girl! She even took some pictures for us to remember our labor and delivery and those special first moments with our baby. She put us at so much peace and we couldn't imagine doing it without her. We are so thankful that we had Amanda there :)
