What's the Cost of Hiring a Midwife in Albany, OR?

The cost of a midwife in Albany, OR, can vary depending on factors such as services provided, experience, and whether the care is for a home birth, birth center, or hospital setting. On average, midwifery services in Oregon typically range from $3,000 to $6,000 for prenatal care, labor, delivery, and postpartum care. Some midwives may offer payment plans or sliding scale fees, and costs can also depend on whether you have insurance that covers midwifery services. It is best to contact local midwives directly for specific pricing in your area.

The cost of a midwife in Albany, OR can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Whether insurance covers the cost of a midwife in Albany, OR, depends on your specific insurance plan and the midwife's credentials. Many insurance plans provide coverage for midwives who are licensed and certified, such as Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs). It's important to check directly with your insurance provider to confirm coverage, as well as whether the midwife is in-network or out-of-network. Additionally, some plans may cover part of the costs, such as prenatal care, labor, or delivery, while others might require you to pay out-of-pocket. Always verify the details with both your insurance company and the midwife before proceeding.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Albany, OR, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

As a doula, clinical herbalist, and massage therapist, I walk alongside mothers with a presence that is both gentle and deeply grounded. I believe that healing thrives in environments of trust, tenderness, and nourishment, and I cultivate that space for every family I serve. The fourth trimester is a sacred window of transformation, and my role is to help you move through it with steadiness, warmth, and compassionate support. My philosophy is rooted in honoring your intuition and the ancient wisdom of the body. I offer a holistic blend of postpartum care, therapeutic touch, and plant-based remedies to help soothe the nervous system, reduce tension, and support your full-body healing. Whether preparing nourishing meals, providing bodywork, or simply holding space for your emotions, my intention is always the same: to help you feel seen, supported, and deeply resourced as you settle into life with your baby.

Jennifer was absolutely amazing! I cannot recommend her enough. She is an incredible chef, a knowledgeable herbalist, a skilled masseuse, and truly one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met. We feel so blessed to have found her and for everything she has brought into our lives. As a postpartum doula, she was unbelievably supportive. She helped with the baby, cooked nourishing meals for me, and did light household chores—relieving so much pressure during those early weeks. She meal-prepped any recipe I requested and offered thoughtful suggestions based on where I was in my postpartum journey.  Her herbal remedies were also a game changer. She created custom teas to support when I had low iron and low vitamin D, as well as one one to help with UTIs. Her tinctures are some of the best I’ve ever tasted—smooth rather than harsh. I especially loved the schisandra berry elixir, the lion’s mane elixir, and the cacao reishi elixir. I also used her seasonal oxymel for allergies. Her skincare products are equally amazing; her womb-warming oil and belly balm tallow both smelled incredible and made me feel so cared for. On top of all that, she is a fantastic masseuse. She even taught me a few massage techniques to help break down scar tissue from my emergency cesarean. If you’re looking for a kind, knowledgeable, and truly dedicated doula, Jennifer is your lady!

Stormy Mckinney

Hello, I’m Stormy McKinney, a birth doula serving families in Oregon. Supporting birthing people is more than a career for me—it’s a calling shaped by my own experiences, my heart for caregiving, and my deep belief that no one should ever feel alone during birth. My journey into birth work began after having two difficult birth experiences of my own. I didn’t have the support I needed, and I carried that feeling of being unheard and overwhelmed for a long time. Later, I spent years caring for my grandmother, and although I loved being there for her, after she passed I knew I wanted to help people in a different way. When I discovered what doulas do, something clicked. I realized I wanted to be the person I never had—someone who advocates, comforts, and helps birthing people relax into their own strength. I completed my Birth Doula and Postpartum care Training with Doula Love LLC in Portland, OR continued my education with additional training in trauma-informed care, oral health, cultural competency, CPR for adults/children/infants (for nurses), and basic lactation support. My approach is grounded in compassion, kindness, and a genuine desire to help families feel safe, informed, and supported. I’m a little shy at first, but I warm up quickly. I have ADHD, so every now and then I get a burst of energy—usually in a fun, optimistic way. I’m also disabled and live with POTS, but it doesn’t stop me from showing up fully for the families I support. I’m a young doula at 25, a mom of two, an animal lover, I love waterfalls, and a bit of a video-game nerd, Anima is a big part of my time. All of these pieces of me shape the warmth and understanding I bring into my work. I believe birth should feel supported, respected, and never lonely. I would be honored to walk beside you as you welcome your baby into the world.

In 2021, I was pregnant with my second kiddo and excited to welcome another baby at Bella Vie in Salem. I met Amanda at my second or third appointment and immediately knew she was the midwife for me. She was incredibly easy to talk to, clear about what we were looking for at each appointment and why, and always had thoughtful answers and advice regarding any questions or concerns I brought up. As a huge bonus, my 3-year-old loved her! The day I gave birth, Amanda was exactly where I needed her, when I needed her. She offered tailored support through gentle guidance and confident reminders that I was safe and so very capable. My first few postpartum hours were also a breeze because of Amanda- both my baby and I were helped to rest and closely monitored for proper signs of healing. Every question and concern was met with knowledgeable, timely care. She is an amazing human being and midwife, and I honestly cannot recommend her enough ♡
